Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in maintaining the community’s physical plant. The role covers electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, and other technical tasks while ensuring compliance with life-safety codes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a maintenance related position.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building and fire safety codes.
• Experience working with a senior/geriatric population is a plus.
• Willingness to be on call during emergency situations as the building operates 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance on grounds and facilities, including plumbing, carpentry and electrical work.
• Maintains safe operating and fire prevention practices.
• Replaces light bulbs and maintains facility lighting.
• Serves heating and cooling systems and ensures proper operation.
• Prepares vacant rooms to rent-ready condition within 72 hours of move-out.
• Inspects and tests fire alarm and emergency systems and maintains records.
