Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting two part-time Support Medical Secretaries to join the Urology Service. You will provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to 12 Consultants, Registrars and Clinical Nurse Specialists, handling typing, clinical correspondence, patient pathways and waiting list management.

The role requires excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, with a flexible and proactive approach.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 Administration or demonstrable administration experience.
• GCSE grade 4/5 or O Level C grade or above in Maths or English.
• Experience in admin/secretarial roles and managing clerical duties.

Responsibilities

• Act as point of contact for patients and staff for consultants.
• Edit and dispatch clinical correspondence within timescales.
• Ensure urgent test results are brought to attention of the team.
• Manage patient pathways and waiting lists; schedule appointments.
• Respond to telephone enquiries from patients and healthcare professionals.
