Parts Time Mechanic Instructor – SEMH Specialist Provision Location: Torbay Contract: Full Time, Monday to Friday Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience) Availability: 2 or 3 days a week. Start Date: September 2025 Are you passionate about the power of the mechanics to inspire, motivate and transform young lives? Do you have the resilience, creativity and calm presence needed to make a real impact in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a dedicated Mechanics Instructor to join our specialist provision, working with students aged 11–16. Our learners all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) focused on SEMH needs. Many have faced significant barriers to education and are now supported by our skilled team in a nurturing, wrap-around environment that helps them rebuild trust, confidence, and belief in their abilities. Through a personalised and therapeutic approach, we promote life skills, emotional resilience, and practical experiences that prepare our learners to thrive both in school and beyond. Outdoor education is a central part of our offer – not just an activity, but a powerful vehicle for personal growth and learning. About the Role: As a Mechanics Instructor, you will: - Plan and deliver engaging mechanics learning sessions tailored to SEMH needs - Use mechanics experiences to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork - Work closely with our pastoral and therapeutic teams in a fully integrated, wrap-around model - Build positive, trusting relationships with learners - Contribute to each student’s personal development, academic progress, and preparation for life beyond school Who We're Looking For: We welcome applications from both qualified and unqualified teachers with relevant experience linked to mechanics teaching. More important than qualifications is your mindset and approach.
