Overview

A Library Assistant is the first point of contact for users of the library. Library Assistants deal with the public in person and on the telephone, answering enquiries, assisting them in using self-service machines and public computers, staffing the council information point and signposting to other agencies. This part time post for 9.50 hours is at Alderley Edge Library.

Responsibilities
  • Join Alderley Edge Library, a busy community library that provides a quality and diverse range of services for its customers.
  • Provide excellent customer service and contribute cheerfully and positively to an efficient, quality library service.
  • Deliver services as part of a small team carrying out a wide range of library duties.
  • Respond to the needs of the Council's Customer Service Point located in the library and assist in running events for adults and children.
  • Show energy and enthusiasm to deliver services and work with self-service machines and public computers.
  • Be involved in signposting to other agencies and signposting to additional resources where appropriate.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Excellent IT and communication skills.
  • Interest in books and lifelong learning.
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
Working Pattern

The 9.50 hours are worked over a two-week timetable and will include alternate Saturdays.
