Job summary

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a Part-time Level 2 Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team in a play-based setting in Wales. The role emphasizes a “planning in the moment” approach, with support for children’s learning through their interests and play.

The successful candidate will work with children with additional needs, build strong relationships with families, and contribute to observations and assessments of progress in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to engage children through responsive, child-led interactions.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
• Knowledge of May I Join You and Intensive Interaction strategies.

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and proactive Part-timeNursery Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team. This role is perfect for someone who understands and embraces a “planning in the moment” approach, supporting children’s learning through their interests, curiosity, and play.

You will:

• Support children’s learning through responsive, child-led interactions
• Experience of working with pupils with additional needs
• Be patient and adaptable
• Have knowledge of May I Join You/ Intensive Interaction strategies and play
• Haveknowledge/understanding of trauma informed approaches
• Create a nurturing, stimulating environment that promotes independence and exploration
• Build strong relationships with children, staff, and families
• Contribute to observations and assessments of children’s progress
