Job Description

This role will include the following duties:

  • Provide Administrative support to the Legal team.
  • Support with the transactions.
  • To be responsible for own caseload of legal cases and assisting with team and organisational projects
  • To help prepare and deliver training sessions, insight reports and briefings on legal principles, procedures and any updates happening within the company.
  • To contribute to and assist in the creation of organisational procedures and end-to-end processes.
  • Carrying out legal work required for asset management of a shared ownership property portfolio.
  • Carrying out legal work relating to statutory applications made by customers for purchasing their properties (i.e. under "Right to Buy" or "Right to Acquire" legislation etc.)
  • Carrying out legal work relating to the strategic asset management of the property portfolio.
  • Carrying out legal work required to promote good tenancy management.
  • Carrying out legal work required for the shared ownership and private sales of new build properties.
  • Acting as an assistant to senior members of the Legal team to include support on legal cases, support with regard to the performance management of the external panel solicitors, document management and needs of the Legal and Governance team, use of technology and new software in connection with the provision of information and documents.
  • Assist with covering cases during periods of absence of other team members.
  • Comply with systems to ensure that all legal cases are logged and processed to ensure a customer focused service is delivered at all times.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience or exposure to Legal (1 to 2 years).
  • Experience with Legal Transactions.
  • Experience of working within a housing association or local authority industry ideally.
  • Experience managing own legal caseload of similar cases.
  • Have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have previous and strong legal drafting skills.
  • Have good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Have strong planning skills and be able to prioritise workload well.
  • Have excellent research skills.
  • Be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be able to develop strong relationships within the Legal team, with clients and other stakeholders.

  • This role is part time, 22 hours a week. Ideally every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but can be flexible.
