Part Time Interim Finance Director - 18 months

Robertson Bell is partnering with a charity to recruit an Interim Finance Director on a part-time basis (3 days per week), reporting directly to the CEO. This is an 18 month contract, based in London with hybrid working on offer.

You’ll take the reins of the finance function, providing steady leadership and assurance across day-to-day operations, grant management, and statutory responsibilities. Supporting a capable and self-sufficient small team, your focus will be on ensuring sound financial oversight and maintaining confidence at Board level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of the year-end process and leading on the statutory accounts and audit
  • Keeping the rolling forecast accurate and up to date to support confident decision-making
  • Overseeing grant management across international, multi-currency programmes
  • Providing trusted financial leadership to the CEO and Board, with clear, assured reporting
  • Leading a capable team with a collaborative and hands-on approach
  • Contributing to scenario planning and shaping future financial strategy
  • Playing a key role in the planned finance system upgrade later this year

This opportunity would suit someone who:

  • Brings strong charity sector knowledge, ideally in international development or similar
  • Has managed grant funding (multi-currency exposure is essential)
  • Has led small finance functions in organisations with income of £5m - £15m
  • Is both detail-oriented and able to keep the wider picture in view
