Job summary

Avon and Somerset Police is seeking an Intelligence Unit Supervisor to lead proactive teams responsible for identifying and targeting all levels of criminality and safeguarding within vulnerable communities.

The role supports a job-share arrangement (Wednesday–Friday, 22.5 hours) with fixed locations (Bridgwater, Taunton or Yeovil) while supervisors may work from other listed locations, including occasional weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• IPP accreditation or willingness to gain within two years.
• Investigative or intelligence experience and mindset.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Willingness to deliver CPD to leaders and practitioners.
• Ability to lead a team with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operation of the Intelligence Team, including workload, resourcing, resilience, coaching, wellbeing, performance and training.
• Briefs intelligence investigations and risk assessments at Force level meetings in line with priorities.
• Conducts risk assessments and sets collection plans using MoRiLE guidelines for high-risk issues.
• Leads as Lead Responsible Officer for Tier 3 and 4 OCGs, developing plans and advising on Tier 2 OCGs.
• Provides consultancy on intelligence processes and signposts to appropriate departments.
