Job summary

MJMK Restaurants is opening LUSO, a contemporary Portuguese restaurant on Charlotte Street, London. As Host you will welcome guests, manage reservations and walk-ins, and coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house to ensure smooth service.

The role demands a warm, confident personality, superb organisational and communication skills, and a keen eye for cleanliness and guest comfort. You will learn the menu and share the story behind our dishes with guests.

• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to cleanliness in public areas.
• Experience managing bookings via phone, online systems, and in person.
• Confident in handling large groups and VIPs with personalised attention.
• Opening and closing duties with daily checklists.
• Enthusiastic about team culture and contributing to briefings.
• Experience in Host/front-of-house in quality-driven restaurant.
• Familiarity with guest preference tracking or guest databases is a plus.

Job description

Host Candidate Requirements:

• Warm, welcoming, and confident personality with a passion for delivering outstanding guest service
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage reservations, walk-ins, and guest flow efficiently
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining a friendly and professional tone at all times
• Able to handle guest inquiries, special requests, and feedback with grace and discretion
• Calm under pressure, especially during busy service periods or when managing wait times
• Strong understanding of hospitality standards and commitment to best-in-class guest experiences
• Willing to learn and confidently speak about the menu, ingredients, and the story behind our dishes
• Comfortable liaising between guests, the kitchen, and the dining room team to ensure seamless coordination
• Detail-oriented and proactive in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public areas (toilets, entrance, outside areas)
• Experience managing bookings across phone, online systems, and in person
• Confident in handling large groups and VIPs with personalised attention and care
• Responsible for completing opening and closing duties, including daily checklists
• Enthusiastic about team culture and actively contributes to team briefings and service improvements
• Experience in a Host or front-of-house role within a quality-driven restaurant
• Familiarity with guest preference tracking or experience with guest database systems is a plus

About MJMK Restaurants

MJMK Restaurants own and operate a collection of award-winning restaurants. Founded in 2018 by lifelong friends Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes, our journey began with Casa do Frango. In 2020, we partnered with chef patron Santiago Lastra to open KOL, a fine dining restaurant in Marylebone celebrating Mexican cuisine with British ingredients.
