Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking 20 part-time Domestic Assistants to join the team at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, and Glenfield Hospital. Roles involve cleaning duties in patient and non-patient areas, with flexible shifts Mon-Fri AM or PM.

Candidates should have prior cleaning experience and be able to work as part of a team, following Trust policies, with full training provided. Some full-time positions may be available.

Qualifications

• Able to follow instructions and duties as detailed in the job description.
• Aiming to achieve NVQ Level 2 in cleaning and support services within 3 years.
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
• Previous cleaning experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning tasks, specific and generic, within prescribed schedules.
• Adhere to infection control and COSHH policies in cleaning tasks.
• Ensure the domestic trolley and equipment are cleaned and stored properly.
• Adhere to the Trust colour coding to prevent cross infection.
• Use materials and cleaning chemicals safely and economically; seek advice when needed.
• Keep cleaning cupboards secure when unattended.
• Dispose of cardboard, household and clinical waste per regulations and policies.
• Report defects or incidents to the Domestic Team Leader.
• Clean and disinfect areas after body fluid spillages (after training).
