Overview

Are you a Fully Qualified Freight Train Driver looking for a Part-Time role, or a Part-Time Driver seeking a change?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to work an average of 2 days per week. This role involves full-time work during the autumn and winter months, with spring and summer off!

Responsibilities

As a Train Manager, you will support GBRf in delivering a safe, reliable, and best-in-class service to our customers. Your role involves liaising with Rail Operators, Signallers, and Contractors to ensure customer requirements are met and trains arrive on time.

Qualifications

This shift-based role requires a flexible attitude to working hours, with a nominal 34.5-hour week. Shifts vary and include 24/7 coverage, especially nights, which are typical for freight roles.

  • Current Freight Train Driving Experience is essential.
  • Candidates must have a satisfactory safety record and hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Extensive route and traction knowledge within the location and surrounding area is desirable.
  • Proficiency with IT packages such as Word, Outlook, and downloading applications on iPads is required.
  • A safety-conscious and calm attitude in emergencies is essential.
  • Excellent concentration and observational skills are necessary.
  • Clear, professional communication skills are needed to relay safety messages effectively.
  • Customer focus and problem-solving skills are important.
  • Train managers must reside within 45 minutes of their workplace.
  • Applicants must possess a UK/EU Train Driver Licence.
