We have flexible part time opportunities for enthusiastic and organised people to join our food service team.

Location: Birmingham
Salary: From £23,605 Per Annum, Pro Rata
Hours: Flexible Part Time to work across mornings / afternoons and early evenings - every other weekend working.

20 Hours per week, 4 hour shifts per day - working 5 days out of 7.

St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 124-bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.

You will be required to work on the wards and within the Patient Meal Service kitchen following appropriate guidelines. You will serve and deliver all food and beverage requirements to patients on the ward, load & deliver trolleys, and perform associated cleaning duties. We expect you to have excellent organisational and communication skills and to work well under pressure while delivering excellent customer care to our patients.

  1. Ensure that at the end of every meal and beverage service, all cutlery, crockery, and condiments are removed from the patient area and correctly stored, disposed of, or stacked ready for washing.
  2. Wash equipment/utensils used in the preparation, regeneration, and serving of food and beverages (some items to be returned to the main catering department).
  3. Maintain the ward kitchen hygiene standards, ensuring it is clean and tidy at all times. Ensure good practice in relation to stock rotation and the discarding of out-of-date food.
  4. Monitor and record fridge temperatures daily in accordance with food safety regulations and report problems as appropriate.
  5. Ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per procedure.
  6. Ensure all patients' meals are accurate and served in a timely manner.

Please note: all staff being recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all our wards when service demands require it.
