Job summary

University of Cambridge, Fly Facility (Department of Genetics) invites applications for a part-time Fly Laboratory Technician. The post is 18.25 hours per week (0.5 FTE) and fixed-term for 12 months.

Qualifications

• Experience in an academic or commercial laboratory.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised, methodical with problem-solving approach.
• Drosophila experience is desirable but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Drosophila stocks as part of stock-keeping service.
• Contribute to daily running of the facility and support during staff absence.
• Assist with fly food service and microinjection support.
• Prepare materials for Drosophila teaching.
