Job summary

The Part-Time Finance People is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to work on-site in Wimborne, delivering robust financial leadership as a trusted adviser to owner-managed SMEs.

You will provide hands-on financial management, governance, and commercial insight to help growth, profitability, and cash flow. This client-facing, self-employed role requires a minimum two days per week onsite and strong relationship-building across leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience.
• Minimum 3 years UK-based experience as Financial Controller.
• Experience supporting SMEs and owner-managed businesses.
• Strong management accounting and board reporting experience.
• Extensive budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management expertise.
• Excellent commercial awareness and business partnering skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero.
• Available to attend client sites in the Wimborne area for a minimum of two days per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts and board packs; deliver KPI reporting and performance analysis.
• Analyse revenue, margins, profitability, stock, and costs; provide commercial recommendations to improve profitability.
• Lead budgeting and annual planning; produce rolling forecasts and scenario planning models.
• Develop cash flow forecasts and identify risks/opportunities.
• Partner with business owners and leaders; challenge and support key decisions.
• Strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes, and drive finance system improvements.
