Part Time Finance Manager - Taunton - £35-40,000 pro-ratanegotiable DOE

Whenever a recruitment advertisement uses an opening gambit containing such phrases as ‘market leader in their field’, the claim needs to be treated with a sizable pinch of salt. Fortunately, we don’t have that problem. This role works with an award-winning market leader in their field. And the claim can be verified almost instantly.

We can’t disclose the name of our client in this listing which is a shame because their credentials are superb. They’re a designer, manufacturer, distributor and retailer of precision consumer equipment that sets them apart from the competition. So much so that they supply their goods to some of the largest commercial and not for profit organisations in the UK.

We’ve been exclusively assigned by the company to source their next Finance Manager and in many respects, the job is almost as exciting as the company’s evident growth over recent years. Why? Because it takes the form of a blank canvas and offers the successful candidate a real opportunity to create their own high performance, ultra-efficient function within a fast growing family business. The role is offered on a flexible part time working arrangement of 30 hours per week, to be agreed to suit the successful candidate.

This is a pivotal position in the business and acts as the finance number one, reporting directly to the Managing Director. It’s a mixed role, predominantly entailing the efficient running of the company’s day-to-day account procedures and systems, but also a project-based element to include system improvements. You’ll be supported by an experienced Accounts Assistant and will have autonomy to develop and tweak your department to make sure that the function is as efficient as the products this company produces.

We’ve an extremely detailed and well written technical specification for this role, which we’re keen to share with potentially suitable candidates. And who is that? Our client has a genuinely flexible attitude but in an ideal world, we’re searching for an experienced “end-to-end” candidate with a background gained within a manufacturing or retail background. Candidates may be part/fully professionally qualified or simply possess the required experience to do the job. And if you’re an experienced manager from practice with a solid understanding of the manufacturing finance cycle, we’d also be keen to hear from you. Whatever your background, you’ll possess excellent attention to details, all round It experience (including MS Excel and ideally Sage based systems), and very strong commercial awareness.
