Job summary

TFP Wessex Fertility in the UK is seeking an experienced Sonographer or fertility nurse with sonography expertise to join our clinical team. You will perform ultrasound scans for follicular tracking, diagnostic AFC scans, pregnancy scans, and support IVF-related treatments.

This 12-month fixed-term maternity cover is part-time: 7.5 hours per day, four days a week, based at our Wessex Fertility clinic near Southampton; you will work with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to high-quality

Qualifications

• 1st level registration with NMC.
• USS trainer certification with BFS or equivalent.
• Interest in women’s health.
• Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellent communication to support patients and families in highly stressful situations, face to face and over the phone.
• Keep accurate records for each patient in line with NMC regulations.
• Assist with data collection from procedures and transfer to patient notes to satisfy HFEA regulations.
• Provide ultrasound services to the highest quality.
• Perform ultrasound examinations and compile concise reports.
• Work with the team to ensure smooth ultrasound service.
• Explain sonography procedures clearly to patients and help them feel at ease.
• Independently perform diagnostic monitoring scans during IVF treatment and early pregnancy.
• Interpret complex clinical information, anticipate problems and take timely action.
• Work within the 1990 HFE Act and Care Quality Commission guidelines.
• Manage difficult situations and support patients and staff as required.
• Ensure COSHH, infection control and health & safety standards are maintained.
