Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Specialist Assessor - Exam Access Arrangements to support learners by carrying out specialist assessments and recommending access arrangements. The role involves ensuring compliance with exam regulations and working with tutors, learners and awarding bodies to promote inclusive assessment practices.

Based at DALS Learning Centres in Derby, the post is 100 hours per year, with a Monday–Friday pattern between 8am–5pm, and a pro rata salary of £31,015–£33,673 per

Qualifications

• Experience carrying out specialist assessments and making recommendations for exam access arrangements.
• Knowledge of assessment processes and exam regulations related to access arrangements.
• Excellent communication and rapport-building with learners, tutors and external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Carry out specialist assessments to identify learners' needs and determine appropriate exam access arrangements.
• Prepare detailed assessment reports and recommendations in line with awarding body and regulatory requirements.
• Advise tutors, managers and support staff on access arrangements and inclusive assessment practices.
• Coordinate approved access arrangements with learners, examination staff and awarding organisations.
• Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation with confidentiality and compliance.
• Keep up to date with JCQ examination regulations, guidance and best practice.
• Support quality assurance processes and contribute to audits and compliance reviews.
• Promote equality of opportunity by removing barriers to learning and assessment for learners with additional needs.
