English Teacher - Independent School - Inspire a Love of Literature and Language

A leading independent school is seeking a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher to join their thriving English department.

This part-time, permanent position offers an opportunity to nurture a love of literature and language in talented students and contribute to a school that values academic excellence and a well-rounded education.

The Role:
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5, fostering intellectual curiosity and a deep appreciation for the power of language.
  • Create a dynamic and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to explore literary texts, express their creativity through writing, and develop their communication skills.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources, including classic and contemporary literature, drama, and creative writing workshops, to inspire students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and differentiated support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the English department to enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's vibrant literary culture.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS3, KS4, and (ideally) KS5 English curriculum.
  • Experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
