About The Role
We’re looking for a passionate Cook to join our elderly care home team. You’ll be preparing and serving tasty, nutritious meals for up to 20 residents. As a Cook, you’ll make sure every meal meets individual dietary needs and preferences, helping to create a comfortable, homely atmosphere. You’ll also keep the kitchen clean and safe, working closely with the care team to make mealtimes positive and enjoyable for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for up to 20 residents, following a 6-week rolling menu cycle
- Keep the kitchen and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and safe
- Follow food safety and COSHH guidelines while cooking and serving meals
- Ensure meals match residents’ care plans and dietary needs
- Keep accurate kitchen records and report any issues or concerns
- Attend training, staff meetings, and supervision to keep growing as a Cook
- Work closely with the care team to make mealtimes enjoyable and stress-free
Salary And Benefits
- £12.61 per hour- 13 hours per week on a two-week rota:
Week 1: Thursday & Friday, 7:30 am – 2:00 pm
Week 2: Saturday & Sunday, 7:30 am – 2:00 pm

About You
️ Previous experience cooking in a care home, school, or similar environment
️ Food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or higher)
️ First aid training (or willingness to complete)
️ Confident preparing meals for groups of up to 20 people
️ Good understanding of food safety and COSHH regulations
️ A positive, team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills
️ Reliable and flexible, with a commitment to providing high-quality service
