Clayton Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a part-time Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The role involves overseeing regulatory compliance and governance for a leading specialist law firm, with strategic oversight of the SRA framework and related requirements.

The successful candidate will have COLP experience or substantial regulatory compliance background, ability to advise partners, and a pragmatic, commercially minded approach to risk management

Qualifications

• Experience as COLP or senior legal professional with regulatory and compliance expertise.
• Strong knowledge of SRA regulatory framework and COLP responsibilities.
• Excellent understanding of risk, governance and compliance within a law firm environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as the firm's Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and fulfill regulatory responsibilities.
• Oversee compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations and relevant requirements.
• Monitor and review the firm's compliance framework, policies and procedures.
• Provide advice to partners and staff on regulatory, ethical and compliance matters.
• Identify, assess and manage compliance and regulatory risks.
• Oversee systems for recording, reporting and addressing compliance issues.
• Support the firm with SRA compliance, audits, risk management and regulatory reporting.
• Keep the firm informed of changes to legislation and standards.
• Work with the MLRO and senior stakeholders as appropriate.
• Promote a culture of compliance and good governance across the firm.
• Provide practical, commercially focused advice to support the firm's success.
