Job summary

Brighton College is seeking a Cleaning Operative on a part-time, permanent basis. The role covers maintaining a high standard of cleanliness across corridors, classrooms and public spaces, with shifts including early mornings and late afternoons.

Hourly rate is £13.50, with 23 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 28 days after two years). Benefits include a learning and development programme, contributory pension, life cover and access to the college library.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties and lift items.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Punctual, reliable and trustworthy with good time management.
• Ability to work alone or in a team and follow safety procedures.
• Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 cleaning training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness in designated areas such as hallways, toilets, showers and classrooms.
• Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely in line with COSHH and Health & Safety rules.
• Operate cleaning machinery and report faults promptly.
• Carry out emergency cleaning as required and respond to management requests.
• Adhere to health and safety precautions to ensure staff, pupils and visitors' safety.
