Job description

A part-time position for a manager to run a well-established Island-based charity shop has become available. The position is supported by a team of experienced volunteers. This is the Island’s only charity shop supporting local people with Diabetes.

Management of The Diabetes Charity Shop, Ventnor, Isle of Wight

The shop raises funds to support The IOW Diabetic Fund charity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Retail Sales
  • Maximise income from donated stock, ensuring high standards of display and merchandising. Maintain standard trading hours.
  • Organise the efficient collection of donations from the public.
  • Training and Development
    • Provide ongoing training, development, and feedback to staff and volunteers to ensure they perform their duties effectively.
  • Resource Management
    • Optimize resources including finance, staff, building, and equipment to meet financial targets set by The IOW Diabetic Fund committee.
  • Financial Management
    • Follow financial procedures set by the Committee and Charity Commission. Ensure efficient use of resources and value for money.
  • Volunteers
    • Recruit, motivate, and support a strong volunteer team.
  • Health and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with all legal health and safety requirements.
  • Security
    • Maintain security of the shop building, contents, and data in accordance with GDPR.
