Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is seeking a passionate Chef to join our kitchen team in a medium secure setting. This part-time role is 30 hours per week, 8am–6pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, delivering nutritious meals and supporting patient dietary needs.

You’ll work with nursing staff to plan menus within budget, maintain high hygiene standards and keep accurate food-supply records. We offer strong progression, coaching, pension, private healthcare and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Food hygiene certificate required.
• Experience in care sector preferred.
• Excellent communication with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for patients and staff.
• Provide special diets considering individual preferences and needs.
• Liaise with nursing colleagues to meet patients' dietary requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas and dining room.
• Keep accurate records of supplies and temperature checks as required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and Food Hygiene Regulations.
• Handle, maintain and store kitchen equipment per procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
