Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is recruiting a Bank Chef to cook and serve meals in a secure mental health environment. You’ll work flexible ad-hoc shifts, typically 7am–6pm, 7 days a week, with duties including meal preparation, sanitation, stock control and staff supervision.

The role requires a food hygiene certificate and catering qualifications; you’ll join a team focused on high standards and person-centred care, with free meals on duty and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Skilled Chef with ability to work under pressure.
• Preferably experience in care sector.
• Plan nourishing menus within budgets and maintain high hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals hot and cold as required.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene across kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow duties set by the Head Chef and assist as needed.
• Washing up, cleaning and overall kitchen area upkeep.
• Manage stock, orders and check deliveries.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff on equipment and procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of food safety and health standards.
