Job summary

Discovery Sailing Project is seeking a Part Time Bosun to perform hands-on maintenance on three vessels at Universal Marina, ensuring they are sea-ready for life-changing sailing experiences for young people. The role is about practical upkeep, not management, with a focus on engines, electrical 12/24V systems, plumbing, woodwork and GRP.

The position is circa 20 hours per week, with day-rate up to £250 depending on experience, and requires Private Indemnity Insurance or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• Experienced in maintaining yachts and their systems.
• Able to work to deadlines and budgets in a charity setting.
• Candidates must have, or be willing to take out, Private Indemnity Insurance.
• Private Indemnity Insurance is required or willing to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vessels are ready for sea and fit for sailing training.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs as a do-er rather than a manager.
