Job summary

Gordano School, part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership, is a large 11-18 comprehensive secondary school eight miles outside Bristol. It serves Portishead with a thriving Sixth Form and offers opportunities for sixth form teaching in over 30 courses.

Qualifications

Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Good level of ICT skills.
Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
Excellent attention to detail.
Understanding of confidentiality in a school environment.

Responsibilities

The Assistant SENDCO will work within a well-established department including the SENDCO, Deputy SENDCO, Teachers of Learning Support and Student Support Workers.
They will collaborate with all stakeholders, fostering excellent working relationships between staff, students and families.
They will ensure safeguarding responsibilities and regular training updates on safeguarding protocols.
Hours are 20 per week with flexibility to increase to 30 hours per week, and pattern may be over 3–4 days.
Role includes matching student needs with effective deployment of support to secure best outcomes.
