Job summary

University of the Arts London is seeking an Assistant Archivist to support student-focused archives and museum services on a permanent, part-time basis (0.6 FTE). The role is based at London College of Communication with on-site work emphasized.

You will contribute to access for users, develop group teaching sessions, assist with cataloguing and the planned 2027 move, and help with outreach and loan preparation. Strong teamwork and independent working are essential.

Qualifications

• UK-accredited postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management, or equivalent experience.
• Experience applying international archives and collections care standards.
• Experience providing access to archives to individuals and groups.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Desirable familiarity with Axiell CALM cataloguing software.

Responsibilities

• Provide access to archives to individual users, in person and remotely via email inquiries.
• Develop and deliver group teaching sessions for archives to support teaching and learning.
• Contribute to collections management, including cataloguing and repackaging for a 2027 move.
• Assist with outreach, including blog and social media posts.
• Support curatorial activity and prepare material for internal and external loan.
