Job description

£16,331.64 per annum | 19 hours per week | Part-time

Love art? Love working with children? Turn your passion into a job that makes a difference.

Imagine spending your working day helping children discover their creativity, master new artistic techniques and beam with pride at what they’ve created.

At art-K Oxford, we’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic and caring Part-Time Art Teacher to inspire young artists and help them grow in skill, confidence and imagination.

You don’t need to be a traditional schoolteacher. If you have a strong artistic background, enjoy working with children and love sharing what you know, this could be the perfect opportunity to turn your passion into a rewarding career.

What you’ll get in return

We believe our team deserves to feel just as supported as the children we teach. Alongside a creative, welcoming working environment, we offer a fantastic benefits package:

  • £16,331.64 annual salary for 19 hours per week.

  • One week of term-time leave per calendar year, subject to approval, after successful probation.

  • Vitality private health insurance after probation.

  • 24/7 Bupa mental health support and wellness care through HEKA.

  • Enhanced sick pay for additional peace of mind.

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay to support you through important life moments.

  • Annual leave loyalty scheme rewarding long-term commitment.

  • Death in Service cover worth three times your salary.

  • NEST pension contributions to help you plan for the future.

  • Blue Light Card discounts on a range of everyday purchases and experiences.

  • Company-funded external training after two years of service.

  • Training and ongoing support to help you build your teaching skills and confidence.

Working Hours
  • Monday: 3.30pm-9.30pm

  • Thursday: 1pm-9pm

  • Sunday: 8am-1pm

Your role and responsibilities

Inspiring creativity: Deliver engaging art classes using the art-K programme, helping children explore different techniques and develop their artistic abilities at their own pace.

Making every child feel special: Get to know your students, understand their individual needs and celebrate their progress. Every child should feel safe, encouraged and proud of their achievements.

Sharing your artistic expertise: Demonstrate techniques and work with a variety of materials, helping children discover new skills and experiment with their ideas.

Building brilliant relationships: Get to know parents and carers, share feedback on their children's development and provide a warm, welcoming experience that families love.

Supporting your team: Help guide and motivate art assistants, creating a positive studio environment where everyone can do their best work.

Bringing art to the community: Respond to enquiries, help connect with local families and support creative events, birthday parties and family workshops.

Keeping the studio running smoothly: Support day-to-day organisation, booking administration and the health, safety and safeguarding standards that help children thrive.

What we’re looking for

You might be an art graduate, practising artist, illustrator, designer, creative professional or an experienced children's activity leader with a strong artistic background.

What matters most is your enthusiasm for art and your ability to share it with children.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A background in fine art, art and design or a related creative subject, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience working with children, whether through teaching, tutoring, childcare, workshops or creative activities.

  • Confidence using a range of artistic materials and techniques.

  • A friendly, patient and encouraging approach that helps children feel comfortable and capable.

  • Great communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with parents and colleagues.

  • Good organisation, initiative and a willingness to get involved.

  • A genuine interest in helping children develop their creativity and confidence.

Never taught art professionally before? If you have the artistic skills, experience with children and enthusiasm to learn, we’d still love to hear from you.

A creative career with purpose

At art-K, children learn far more than how to draw or paint. They develop patience, problem-solving skills, confidence and the courage to try something new.

You’ll be part of that journey — helping a child master a tricky technique, discover a love of painting or realise just how talented they can be.

You’ll also join a growing creative community, with training, guidance and opportunities to develop your skills over time.

Ready to join art-K Oxford?

If you’re looking for a rewarding part-time role where you can use your artistic talents, work with wonderful children and make a genuine difference, we’d love to hear from you.
