Perfect Household Staff is pleased to present a new part-time vacancy for an experienced Cook/Housekeeper in Harpenden, a desirable commuter town in Hertfordshire, known for its excellent schools, village charm, and lush countryside surroundings.

This informal household is home to a professional parent and their teenage son (15 years old), along with a friendly family dog that is professionally walked. The family is seeking a reliable, friendly, and proactive domestic professional to support their home with housekeeping, family-style cooking, and errands on a permanent, live-out basis.

The ideal candidate will be confident preparing gluten-free and dairy-free meals (instructions will be provided), have a working knowledge of Italian or Asian cuisine, and enjoy maintaining a clean, organised home environment. A willingness to adapt quickly, take initiative, and work with discretion will be essential.

The property is a two-storey home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and no specialist surfaces or antique furnishings. The family prefers to use chemical-free, bleach-free cleaning products, all of which are provided on-site.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• General housekeeping (tidying, dusting, vacuuming)
• Weekly deep cleaning of regularly used areas
  
• Laundry and ironing
  
• Wardrobe organisation and linen care
  
• Family-style cooking with a focus on gluten- and dairy-free meals
• Online or offline grocery shopping
  
• Running occasional errands (e.g. pharmacy, dry cleaning)
  
• Driving child to/from school when needed ( driving licence is a bonus, not a requirement )
  
• Working collaboratively with a friendly and informal household
  
• Comfortable working around the family dog (no pet care duties required)
  
  
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in private households
  
• Excellent, checkable references
  
• Friendly and energetic
• Must be child-friendly and comfortable around pets
  
• Driving licence is advantageous, but not essential
