Job summary

Purcell Architecture is seeking a talented Part II Architectural Assistant to join our Cambridge team, working on projects across all RIBA stages and collaborating with clients, colleagues and consultants. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 1.
  • Master's degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 2.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp.
  • Analytical site and context understanding with strong design concepts.
  • Good presentation skills (visual, written, spoken).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of concept and feasibility designs with sketches and visuals.
  • Support architects in developing high-quality proposals.
  • Produce architectural models, drawings and technical information.
  • Liaise with design professionals and clients on project information.
  • Attend site visits and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive studio environment.

Role & Responsibilities

The role will involve applying creative and technical design skills within project teams as well as within the wider studio, working on a range of projects that vary in size and nature. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the development of concept and feasibility designs preparing design options, sketches, diagrams, visualisations and presentation material to communicate design ideas.
  • Support architects and project leads in developing high-quality coordinated architectural proposals.
  • Production of architectural digital models and drawings schedules and technical information under the instruction of architects and senior team members.
  • Reporting to your team leader and wider studio leadership team.
  • Liaison with design professionals and coordination of design information within a multi-disciplinary design team.
  • Communication with clients and project stakeholders and attend site visits and surveys.
  • Being part of a diverse, inclusive and creative team of architectural professionals.

We are looking for candidates who have the following skills and qualifications:

Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 1.
  • Master's degree in architectural studies equivalent to Part 2.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Sketch-up.
  • Design capabilities including an analytical approach to understanding a site and its context, development of strong architectural concepts, explored through creative sketches and clear visual diagrams.
  • Good presentation skills (visual, written & spoken) and contribution to high-quality documentation.
  • Understanding of industry technical standards and statutory requirements.
  • Proactive 'can do' attitude with the ability to manage self, work under pressure, and apply excellent time management skills meet deadlines.
  • Personable, confident and sociable, with a strong sense of team spirit.
  • Willingness to work on conservation-led projects and to deepen your understanding and knowledge of historic buildings.
