LEYLAND ROAD METHODIST CHURCH Southport, England, United Kingdom

Description of Job

Leyland Road Methodist Church is looking to employ a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Nurse/Midwife (NMC), band 6, in a part-time salaried position to lead their new Parish Nursing Service and will be supported by a small team.

This innovative service is provided in partnership with Parish Nursing Ministries UK and aims to complement statutory services and improve and maintain the holistic health and wellbeing of neurodiverse children up to the age of 25 and their families.

The parish nurse role includes:

  1. General health education
  2. Personal health screening, health support and signposting
  3. Advocating for individuals and health more widely
  4. Acting as health navigator and resource
  5. Liaising with other GPs, community nurses, social prescribers, Social Services and other local services
  6. Supporting the wider health, safety and risk management team of the church and congregation
  7. Providing holistic support through pastoral care and referring to other faith leaders where appropriate

It is a requirement for post holders to have completed certification with Parish Nursing UK training or be willing to undertake this.

Current registration with the NMC is essential and support for revalidation is provided.

Hours per week: One post holder: 18 hours per week, over 2-3 days subject to agreement. A job share is available; Two post holders, 9 hours each per week, each holder working over 1-2 days with a minimum of one overlapping hour on the same day.

The contract is for 2 years (subject to annual review). The reason for the fixed term is that the post is partly funded from limited financial reserves and external grant funding. During the project, we will be seeking additional funding for an extra year.

This job is for 18 hours per week.

Salary (18 hours per week) £17,878 per annum plus expenses (Job share £8,939).
