Manchester Diocesan Board of Finance invites applications for Parish Renewal roles across its seven deaneries. The post focuses on missional accompaniment, developing clear vision, and catalysing new worshipping communities within diverse parishes and chaplaincies.
Ideal candidates are practising Christians with strong collaboration and communication skills, able to engage with data, planning and reporting to support delivery and pastoral purposes.
We are the Diocese of Manchester, serving a vibrant, dynamic and creative community in the North-West of England. Our vision is to be a worshipping, growing, transforming Christian presence at the heart of every community. Our work is about building a culture of hope and an expectation of growth in our parishes, schools and chaplaincies. We’re looking for talented and innovative people to bring fresh ideas, diversity and inspiration to help us achieve this.
We’re looking for people with successful backgrounds of leadership in local church, chaplaincy or parish settings to play pivotal roles in the Diocese of Manchester’s Parish Renewal strategy. The roles will be key to releasing local capacity for mission by helping parishes identify their potential and priorities to deliver progress towards church health and church growth.
You’ll work as part of a collaborative Parish Renewal Team, across our seven deaneries, working with both clergy and lay leaders, to focus on missional accompaniment and developing clear vision; catalysing new and renewed expressions of church by enabling new worshipping communities; and delivering our Parish Renewal strategy through effective engagement with programme processes and learning. You’ll also have responsibility for one of three defined areas of focus: Area Dean Development and Support; Learning and Communities Lead; and Mission Community Development.
Practising Christians with deepening understanding of mission, evangelism and discipleship. Great collaborators with experience of working across different teams, contexts or traditions. Strong relationship-builders with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and build trust with clergy and lay leaders. Highly motivated and organised individuals who can engage confidently with data, planning and reporting processes to support delivery, without losing sight of the pastorally focused purpose of the roles.
This is more than an office-based role, it’s a chance to work with diverse and interesting parishes, develop your career, and be part of an organisation that values long-term stewardship, sustainability and community impact.
