Job description

Location: Daisy Chain Day Centre - based in Norton, Stockton but will be required to travel to outreach locations in the Tees Valley, Sunderland, and Gateshead

Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £26,000 per annum pro rata
Contract: Fixed term until 30 November 2027 (possible extension subject to funding)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Parent Training Co-ordinator to join our Family Support Team at Daisy Chain. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of high-quality learning opportunities for parents and carers of autistic and neurodivergent children, young people and adults.

The role is focused on creating and delivering accessible, practical and supportive workshops and group sessions, both online and face to face. You will help families better understand autism and neurodiversity, explore helpful strategies, and connect with sources of support across the region.

Job summary

Working within the Family Support Team and based at the Daisy Chain Day Centre, the Parent Training Co-ordinator will take the lead in the development, coordination and delivery of group education, training and support for parents and carers of autistic people.

The post holder will design and facilitate a programme of learning workshops delivered virtually and in community venues across the region. They will ensure sessions are informative, engaging, and accessible to families who have a wide range of experiences and needs.

The role also includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local services, promoting sessions in partnership with colleagues, managing bookings and attendance information, and contributing to the achievement of project targets. Additional hours may be available based on operational requirements and team coverage.

Occasional travel across the region will be required for face-to-face sessions, and mileage expenses can be claimed in line with Daisy Chain policy.

Key responsibilities

Training and workshop delivery

• Develop and deliver a programme of autism and neurodiversity learning workshops for parents and carers.
• Facilitate engaging group sessions both online and face to face.
• Create and update workshop materials, presentations and supporting resources.
• Ensure all training content reflects current neurodiversity-affirming practice and evidence-informed approaches.
• Adapt sessions to meet the differing needs and experiences of families attending.

Family support and signposting

• Provide information, guidance and practical strategies to parents and carers attending sessions.
• Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of local support services, referral pathways and community resources.
• Signpost families to appropriate services when additional support is required.
• Provide cover and support for the Family Support service and additional training on an ad-hoc basis if required.

Coordination and promotion

• Work closely with the wider Family Support Team to plan training schedules and promote upcoming sessions.
• Support the administration of bookings, attendance lists and participant communications.
• Record attendance data accurately to support project monitoring, targets and reporting requirements.
• Gather participant feedback and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the training programme.
• Liaise with colleagues and external partners to support effective delivery of workshops across the region.
• Represent Daisy Chain professionally at meetings, events and partnership activities where appropriate.

Safeguarding and professional practice

• Safeguard children, young people and adults at all times in line with Daisy Chain policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in all aspects of the role.

Administration

• Maintain accurate records of training delivery, attendance, and evaluation.
• Use Daisy Chain systems and software to support effective service delivery.
• Undertake routine administrative tasks associated with the role.
