Parent and Family Worker
Salary: £15.66 per hour
Location: Nottingham
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
Contract Type: Temporary
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Neurodevelopmental Support Team as a Parent and Family Worker. The role involves working directly with children, young people, and their families—particularly those on the neurodevelopmental assessment pathway for Autism and ADHD. You’ll carry out specialist assessments and deliver structured, graduated parenting interventions. The position offers varied work across family homes and educational settings, with full training, supervision, and support provided.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targets as outlined in the service and team business plan.
  • Undertake specialist assessments of children, young people, and their families.
  • Plan and deliver structured parenting interventions in line with service guidance.
  • Keep accurate, timely records and enter required data.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings and communicate effectively with lead professionals.
  • Work directly with families in various settings and provide transport as needed (following health and safety guidance).
  • Participate in team meetings and service-wide events.
Key Accountabilities
  • Deliver services in line with safeguarding policies and service guidance.
  • Maintain compliance with professional standards and registration requirements.
  • Actively engage in professional development, including supervision and appraisals.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Prepare concise formal reports explaining the outcomes of assessments and interventions.
  • Attend court hearings and other relevant meetings as required.
What They're Looking for in an Individual
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (A*-C), including English (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of child development, effective parenting, and attachment theory.
  • Full UK driving licence (unless registered disabled).
  • At least two years’ experience working with children, young people, and families (paid or voluntary).
  • Experience delivering groupwork and undertaking specialist parenting assessments.
  • Experience managing challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity, assessment processes, and the ability to conduct observations in various settings.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer care.
  • Interpersonal skills to gain cooperation from colleagues, managers, and families.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and manage priorities effectively.
  • Competent IT skills, including database and word processing software.
  • Capacity to manage risk, safeguarding responsibilities, and health & safety issues.
  • Commitment to equality, fairness, and respectful practices.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours (evenings/weekends) as needed.
  • Capable of handling small amounts of petty cash and general administrative duties.
