Job summary

Pertemps Dudley Industrial is recruiting for a Royal Mail Stoke Parcel Sorting Centre with a temporary Parcel Sorter role. You will unload, sort and load mail and parcels in a busy sorting centre, working in shifts from 6am–2pm, 2pm–10pm, or 10pm–6am. Safety, teamwork and reliability are essential.

Shifts are part of a temporary arrangement; prior warehouse experience helps, and travel time is paid. Duties adapt per shift to meet deadlines and changing duties.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse experience helps but is not always essential.
• Must be comfortable with lifting and moving bags and parcels.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

This temporary Parcel Sorter role with Pertemps Dudley Industrial supports Royal Mail at its Stoke sorting centre. Working full time within a busy parcel operation, the successful candidate unloads mail from vehicles, moves items through the facility, sorts letters and parcels, and loads mail bags. Shifts involve standing for long periods, lifting, and meeting tight deadlines, so physical fitness and reliability matter. Pay ranges from £15.14 to £16.44 per hour, with extra shifts possibly available during peak periods. Applicants should work well within a team, follow safety procedures, and adapt as duties change throughout each shift. Previous warehouse experience helps but is not always essential.

Job Role:

As a Parcel Sorter, you will work as part of a busy team handling parcels and mail within the sorting centre.

Key Responsibilities:

• Unloading mail and parcels from vehicles.
• Moving parcels and mail through the sorting centre.
• Sorting letters, parcels and other postal items.
• Loading and moving mail bags and parcels.
• Ensuring items are handled safely and efficiently.
• Working to tight deadlines in a busy environment.
• Moving between different tasks as required during your shift.
• Working effectively as part of a team.
• Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.

You must be comfortable with:

• Pushing trolleys weighing up to 25kg .
• Lifting and moving mail bags weighing up to 11kg .
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Working in a fast-paced warehouse/sorting environment.
• Repeated lifting, moving and sorting of parcels and mail.

Working Hours:

• Morning Shift – 6am to 2pm - £15.14ph
• Afternoon Shift – 2pm to 10pm - £15.14ph
• Night Shift – 10pm to 6am - £16.44ph

Travel time will be paid at your shift pay rate.
