Job Description:

Overview

We require a paraplanner / servicing adviser for a full-time salaried on-site position at our busy wealth management office in the centre of Castleford, West Yorkshire. With 600 clients and £130m under management, attention to detail and accuracy are of paramount importance. We pride ourselves on delivering the best advice and service obtainable anywhere, regardless of the firm size. We manage clients' life savings, and we take that responsibility with the utmost seriousness. That means we only hire the best people who we are sure we can trust. You will provide expert financial guidance to our clients, helping them to achieve their financial goals through tailored planning and investment strategies. Most of all though, you will genuinely care about and for them, their families, and their future.

We want a person with a positive mindset, an outstanding work ethic, and a can-do attitude, who will fully commit to the role, and who will genuinely care about delivering the best, fastest, most accurate and empathetic service possible to our mainly age 50+ clients.

You must –

·Possess a strong understanding of financial services, especially pensions and investments, and a passion for assisting clients in navigating their financial journeys.

·Be a real team player, not a player of office politics. We do not tolerate bitching, bullying, and backbiting. We’ve all worked for bosses who played ‘divide and rule.’ We are the opposite. We expect all colleagues to catch for each other.

·Be a responsibility taker not a buck-passer, a doer not a dodger, and a regular and punctual attender, not a shirker and clock-watcher. The role is 100% office-based at our town centre office, West Riding House, 6-8 Commercial Street, Castleford, WF10 1DG.

·Be an organised and self-motivated self-manager who we can trust to get on with the job. We hate micro-managing, and no sane person enjoys being micro-managed.

The job involves onboarding the new clients who come to us almost wholly on referral from existing satisfied clients and servicing the existing clients whose savings we manage. We have a reputation as a firm that truly and deeply cares about its staff and clients, and we intend to keep it. You need to be level 4 diploma qualified for an adviser position. For the paraplanner role we will consider part qualified applicants possessing the requisite knowledge and experience.

This is NOT a sales job. Ours is the most no-hard-sell firm with which you will ever work, because our service sells itself. This is a salaried and secure permanent position that also includes eligibility for our all-staff productivity bonus. The salary range is £35,000 to £45,000pa depending on qualifications and experience and our annual productivity bonus has averaged around 15% for as long as we can remember. We also pay 9% of basic salary into the pension of your choice with no requirement for any contribution by you. If you do want to contribute though, we facilitate salary sacrifice. Based on recent bonus averages, the package is realistically worth up to circa £56,000 if we continue to perform at current levels. The hours are 35 per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Holidays are 29 days including statutory, rising thereafter according to length of service. We also provide support with ongoing learning and relevant qualifications.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive factfinds, attitude to risk assessments, and lifestyle impact tolerance evaluations. (What our wonderful regulator calls 'capacity for loss!')
  • Develop personalised financial plans that encompass investment strategies, retirement planning, tax optimisation, and estate planning.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with clients, providing regular updates and adjustments to their financial plans, as necessary.
  • Stay informed about market trends, economic changes, and new financial products to offer the best advice to clients.
  • Educate clients on various financial products and services available to them.
  • Collaborate with other professionals such as accountants or legal advisors to provide holistic advice.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate records of client interactions and transactions.

Skills and Qualities

  • Complete integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism, nothing less, ever.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in UK financial services, including investment products, insurance options, and retirement accounts, and familiarity with platform use.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in an understandable manner.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing client needs and developing effective solutions.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and establish long-term relationships based on trust.
  • Proficient in using financial software tools for analysis and reporting.

For the right person, this will be a great career which they will find personally and financially rewarding. Find out more about us at www.wrpfs.com, or Google what the media says about us. We are the firm who warned the FCA about LCF, four years before it went bust for £237m. We have had excellent write-ups in the Times, Telegraph, and Guardian amongst others, plus favourable references by MPs in the House of Commons, as reported in Hansard. In short, we have a great reputation, and the person we hire will help us keep it that way and enhance it.
