The Role: Paraplanner
Location: Huddersfield/ Edinburgh/ Stirling

This is a great opportunity for a qualified/ part qualified Paraplanner to progress their career within a dynamic and quality focused team with an exceptional reputation in the market. You will be joining a key team of Sandringham Financial Partners, now part of M&G, who help support 180+ advising partners within the growing network.

The Paraplanning team takes responsibility for preparing detailed financial planning strategies in line with our clients' individual objectives. The highest compliance standards are critical and being able to provide context to clients in relation to their advice journey is essential. Our valued support frees up the Financial Planner's time to focus attention on client-facing duties.

Supported by the Paraplanning Administration Team, you will analyse client's needs and objectives, developing financial planning strategies as agreed with the Financial Planner. You will have analytical skills to assess documentation standards in line with the regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for compiling the research and suitability in private wealth focused areas across investments and pensions, drafting a client-centric financial planning report to summarise the advice.

The role is full-time based at our Huddersfield, Stirling or Edinburgh office. After an initial training period, a hybrid model of working is implemented, with part of the week in the office and part working from home.

It is essential that candidates either hold or be actively working towards a relevant qualification (CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or an equivalent).

Key Responsibilities for this role

  1. To conduct quality analysis and research to arrive at the most suitable outcome for the client, enabling effective judgements on the suitability of client outcomes and supporting documentary evidence, in line with regulatory and internal standards.
  2. Undertaking whole of market research on new and existing clients using FE Analytics, SelectaPension, Cashflow modelling and our in-house research tools.
  3. To advise on quality outcomes, providing clear professional communication to advisers with adequate rationale.
  4. To operate collaboratively with colleagues to improve overall quality outcomes and provide consistent compliant files.
  5. Build a rapport with the advisers within the firm and other Compliance Departments to ensure that good relationships are maintained.
  6. Contribute to the design and implementation of quality standards, identifying any trends and proposing resolutions to achieve the required standards.
  7. Working at pace to achieve individual productivity targets and objectives.
  8. Maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
  9. Keep up to date with the latest industry knowledge in order to support advisers and communicate this effectively with the team. Focused on continual improvement of the service to our customers.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  1. Relevant professional qualification (CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or suitable alternative at Level 4 or above) is essential for the role or could be achieved within 12 months.
  2. Previous Paraplanning or Advice experience preferred.
  3. Detailed knowledge of assessing suitability of advice outcomes.
  4. Detailed knowledge of Pension and Investment products is essential to the role.
  5. Working knowledge of Risk, Compliance and Advice in UK financial services.
  6. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills to form effective working relationships.
  8. Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
  9. The ability to act professionally, with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  10. Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills to be able to work to multiple competing deadlines. Ability to take ownership and accountability for own area and ensure you are punctual and reliable with time keeping.
  11. A good knowledge of private wealth products.
