Job summary

GCB Recruitment is seeking a Paraplanner for a Chester-based IFA/financial planning practice. You will provide technical support, analyse client portfolios, and prepare detailed reviews in a collaborative team environment.

The role offers a £40,000–£45,000 base salary, with study material/exams paid, progression opportunities, and a focus on high-quality financial planning advice. Standard hours are 9:00–17:30 with flexibility where required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to Financial Advisers and analyse client portfolios.
• Prepare detailed reviews and full recommendation reports.
• Carry out complex calculations including tax, CGT, IHT, pensions and allowances.
• Research and formulate suitable financial planning recommendations.
• Liaise with product providers, managers and clients; ensure regulatory compliance.

The Role

As a Paraplanner, you will:

• Provide technical support to Financial Advisers
• Analyse clients' existing financial portfolios and prepare detailed reviews
• Carry out complex financial calculations, including income tax, CGT, IHT, pension and allowance assessments
• Research and help formulate suitable financial planning recommendations
• Prepare full recommendation reports and supporting documentation
• Liaise with product providers, account managers, and clients
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial products, markets, and regulations
• Support advisers in delivering high-quality, compliant financial advice

Paraplanner Requirements

• Previous experience within an IFA or financial planning practice (essential)
• Strong analytical and numerical ability
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Methodical, professional, and client-focused approach
