Job description

This is an opportunity to join an established friendly team of GPs, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants.

The role will provide a specialist resource as an advanced paramedic practitioner for our patients, working with clinicians, nursing team, and in collaboration with other members of the practice multidisciplinary teams. We have two sites in Bexhill, one in Sidley and the other in Albert Road, Bexhill Town Centre.

As part of the team, you will work within our practice community as an autonomous, accountable paramedic practitioner providing holistic care while assessing, diagnosing, and providing treatment to patients using competent and up-to-date clinical skills.

We promote self-care and educate service users to empower them to make informed treatment choices.

The successful candidate must hold a full driving licence with suitable insurance and access to an appropriate vehicle. Mileage is claimed back at the standard BMA Committee Rate, currently set at 45 pence per mile.

Main duties of the job
  • Minor illness assessment, diagnosis, and treatment with access to seek advice, review, and onward referral within clinical teams at Sidley Medical Practice.
  • Providing care to patients on domicile visits and developing skills within triage and telephone consultations.
  • Referring patients requiring secondary care care to the available GP, with ongoing review by the Partners.
  • Developing care plans for patients as needed, including involvement in end-of-life care and chronic disease management, supervised by the Partners.
  • Prescribing and issuing medications with appropriate training and supervision, within patient group directives, including vaccinations, nebulised medications, oxygen, and emergency intravenous/muscular medications.
  • Assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring, or directing patients to other services for minor conditions, injuries, or acute illnesses during surgery or domicile visits.
  • Undertaking wound management within competencies, including collection of pathological specimens such as blood samples, point-of-care testing, and swabs.

Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Locations: Sidley Medical Practice and Albert Road Surgery

Summary: The role involves providing advanced paramedic services, working independently within the practice community, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic patient care.

Key duties include minor illness assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, care planning, prescribing, wound management, specimen collection, record keeping, and participation in ongoing education and team activities.

Additional responsibilities include administrative duties, ensuring legal compliance, confidentiality, equality, diversity, and adherence to practice policies, including the chaperone policy.

The candidate must have a valid paramedic registration, experience in primary care, and a current DBS check. The role requires a full driving license and access to a vehicle, with mileage claims processed at the BMA rate.
