Job description

There is now a wide acknowledgement of the benefits an experienced Paramedic can bring to General practice, therefore we are looking for an enthusiastic Paramedic practitioner forminor ailment clinics, acute home visits and patient Long term condition management.

We are offering a unique new direction to anyone who is looking for aprogressive move from the usual thrill of blue lights.

The successful candidate will be working alongside GPs and other Health Care Professionals, carrying outpatient assessments, supporting care plans, referring to community teams,updating records, safety netting, vaccinating and managing patients in theirright environment.

Main duties of the job

Respond to patients in their ownhome alone or as part of a team

Assess patients who are at riskof admission to hospital

Support long term condition monitoring

Provide minor ailments clinics within the practice

Urine dipstick testing and sampling

Blood glucose testing

Blood pressure measurement

12 lead ECG

FEV1 / Peak-flow

Blood sampling for lab

(Appropriate training availableto ensure competency if skills outside current scope of practice)

Make appropriate clinical decisions based of yourassessment, medical history and suitable resources available.

Job responsibilities

The post holder aspires to provide a responsive, safe, effectiveand caring service to patients. Initial history taking, clinical andfunctional assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They willdemonstrate safe, clinic decision making and expert care, including assessmentand diagnostic skills, for patients within their own homes.

Along with using a medical model to assess, diagnose andprescribe for acute medical conditions, the clinician will use a holisticapproach to consider methods and interventions to prevent recurrence ofproblems and complete referrals to appropriate members of the widermultidisciplinary team.

Theclinician will participate in, and influence efforts, across health and socialcare to shape multi-disciplinary pathways designed to support patient choice,improve quality of life, promote self-management and assure early interventionthrough proactive provision of care in or as close to the patients own home aspossible.

Qualifications
  • Current registered Paramedic, experience as an autonomous practitioner within a minor injury/illness centre or mobile service. Able to work autonomously, using own clinical judgment to form a diagnosis. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload. Have good communication skills Be able to function effectively as part of a team
  • Experience within Primary, Secondary Care or Community. Completed Minor Ailment / Minor Injury modules at level 6 Paramedic Practitioner level 6
