Job summary

Shakespeare Martineau in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our Real Estate Finance team. You will support fee earners on a broad range of real estate finance transactions across investment and development matters.

Working closely with Partners, Associates and clients, you will review title documentation, undertake due diligence, draft reports, and assist with completion and post-completion steps while delivering high service standards.

Qualifications

  • Previous Paralegal experience in Real Estate or Finance preferred.
  • Strong conveyancing and property transaction process knowledge.
  • Experience reviewing title documents and performing due diligence.
  • Excellent organisation and ability to manage priorities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with clients.
  • Experience with case management systems and legal tech.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and keen to develop expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Support fee earners on Real Estate Finance transactions from instruction to completion.
  • Review title documentation and complete due diligence.
  • Draft and prepare reports on title and transaction documents.
  • Assist with managing property aspects of financing structures.
  • Raise and respond to enquiries with borrowers, lenders, agents and other solicitors.
  • Conduct legal research as required for transactions.
  • Support completion and post-completion processes ensuring accuracy.
  • Manage workload while delivering excellent client service.

Description

Are you an experienced Paralegal looking to develop your career within a specialist and growing area of Real Estate Finance? Do you have an interest in supporting high-quality real estate transactions?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Paralegal to join Shakespeare Martineau's Real Estate Finance team. Working closely with Partners, Associates and clients, you will support a broad range of real estate finance transactions across both investment and development matters.

This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a unique and highly regarded practice area, working with a diverse client base including banks, financial institutions, developers, investors and corporate occupiers. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, developing your technical and commercial expertise while contributing to complex and high-value transactions.

This position would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in delivering a high standard of work and is keen to build a long-term career within Real Estate Finance.

What you will be doing:
  • Supporting fee earners on a variety of Real Estate Finance transactions from instruction through to completion.
  • Reviewing title documentation and undertaking due diligence exercises.
  • Drafting and preparing reports on title and associated transaction documents.
  • Assisting with the management of property aspects of financing structures.
  • Raising and responding to enquiries and liaising with borrowers, lenders, agents and other solicitors.
  • Carrying out legal research and assisting with transaction-specific requirements where required.
  • Supporting completion and post-completion processes, ensuring all relevant matters are dealt with accurately and efficiently.
  • Managing your workload effectively while maintaining excellent client service standards.
What you will need:
  • Previous Paralegal experience within Real Estate, Commercial Property, Real Estate Finance or Banking would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • A sound understanding of conveyancing and property transaction processes.
  • Experience reviewing title documentation and conducting property due diligence.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence when dealing with clients and professional contacts.
  • Experience using case management systems and legal technology platforms.
  • A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and enthusiasm for developing specialist expertise.
