Description

The Property Recoveries team in Belfast is part of our Claims Solutions Group. Our specialist team provides expert and practical advice over a range of areas:

  • Subrogated property
  • Uninsured Loss Recoveries
  • Recovery of overpayments and duplicate payments

While experience is desirable, we are currently accepting applications from enthusiastic paralegals seeking an exciting career within a supportive team and ambitious firm.

What you will do

Role

You will provide a timely, professional, and high-quality service to our clients in managing claims. With support from a supervisor and team manager, you will:

  • Manage a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work.
  • Screen matters for prospects and liaise with clients upon receiving instructions.
  • Review instructions and advise clients on case prospects.
  • Resolve claims through negotiation and litigation within client service standards.
  • Instruct experts and counsel, draft Witness Statements, and other court documents.
  • Maintain contact with clients and their Customers, proactively managing expectations.
  • Meet individual performance measures (financial performance, realization rates, KPIs).
  • Maintain the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards.
Who you are

We welcome graduates, those with customer service or retail experience, team players, and those passionate about learning. Paralegals with experience in a legal environment are also encouraged to apply.

Typical duties include:

  • Managing a full caseload of pre-litigated and litigated files, ensuring deadlines are met and cases are managed proactively to conclusion. Litigation experience is preferred.
  • Handling cases in the Small Claims Court and County Court.
  • Ensuring work meets client needs, firm requirements, and quality standards, including adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and protocols.
  • Achieving chargeable time and financial targets, prompt billing, and collection of WIP and disbursements.
  • Providing accurate MI and clearing trust balances promptly.
  • Devising and adhering to clear case strategies, ensuring cases are run smoothly and commercially balanced.
  • Applying current technical expertise and case law.
  • Ensuring cases reach repudiation or settlement efficiently and archiving procedures are completed swiftly.
  • Managing risk and compliance issues, escalating problems promptly.
  • Engaging with clients to build rapport and acting as an ambassador for the firm.
  • Contributing to business development and client relationship activities as needed.
