About Vario and the MLS Team

Vario is a market-leading alternative legal services provider within the law firm Pinsent Masons, and it is unique in the legal sector. It is a practice group within Pinsent Masons that includes Flexible Services, Consulting and Technology, Legal Project Management, and Managed Legal Services (MLS). This role is within our MLS team.

Our Vario MLS team helps clients improve the performance of their in-house teams through efficient resourcing solutions, using lawyers, processes, and technology to deliver outcomes faster and smarter than traditional law.

Within our MLS team, we have established a Paralegal Centre of Excellence, which consolidates a range of paralegal skills and capabilities to provide various services to our lawyers and clients.

Role Overview

We are recruiting a Paralegal to join our Paralegal Centre of Excellence within Pinsent Masons Vario, based in our Edinburgh or Manchester office.

The role's purpose is to support our lawyers with technical, administrative, and client relationship tasks. The responsibilities include:

1. Creating new files from instructions received from clients.
2. Generating and issuing leases to third-party solicitors for property completions.
3. Reviewing lease amendments and liaising with the internal Property team to agree on lease terms.
4. Handling pre-completion formalities such as official searches, collating deliverables, and procuring correctly executed documentation.
5. Managing all aspects of plot sale completions.
6. Drafting and submitting SDLT and HMLR applications.
7. Responding to information requests from HMLR and resolving issues.
8. Addressing third-party queries through to resolution.
9. Maintaining regular contact with clients.
10. Managing documents and data rooms.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, an excellent communicator, and skilled at managing multiple responsibilities. They will work closely with legal teams and need to build strong relationships at all levels. A proactive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Desired experience includes:

• Customer service and/or administrative experience.
• Caseload or task management experience.
• Experience as an Assistant, Paralegal, or Legal Executive within Property (desired but not essential).
• Post-completion and/or residential conveyancing experience (desired but not essential).
