Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom seeks a capable in-house paralegal or junior legal counsel to provide day-to-day operational legal support for hotels and partners. You will draft and revise hotel and corporate contracts, handle NDAs and outsourcing agreements, and assist with data protection requests.

The role involves collaboration with the EMEA Legal team and outside counsel, participation in training sessions, and supporting crisis management and dispute resolution activities.

Qualifications

  • Qualified with a degree from a common law jurisdiction.
  • Legal Practice Course completion or Bar Vocational Course.
  • Experience in law firm or in-house legal department as paralegal or equivalent.
  • Strong IT and numerical literacy.
  • Travel up to 5%.
  • Experience of commercial law, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (useful).
  • Good understanding of the hotel sector and corporate structures (useful).

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate and timely legal advice consistent with company policies, procedures and past practices.
  • Communicate with hotels and business partners to provide day-to-day operational legal support.
  • Draft, review and revise contracts, including hotel and corporate department agreements.
  • Support the EMEA F&D team with NDAs, franchise, licence, third-party and outsourcing agreements.
  • Support the Safety & Security team with legal matters, including crisis management.
  • Assist with dispute resolution and litigation matters, including preparing and reviewing statements of claim, pleadings and witness statements.
  • Support claims and disputes through fact gathering, document review and risk assessment.
  • Assist with data protection and information-related requests.
  • Establish, maintain and distribute a library of precedent documents.
  • Implement self-service programs and legal guidance for business partners.
  • Collaborate with the EMEA Legal team, business partners, hotels and outside counsel.
  • Attend internal and business partner meetings and assist with training preparation and delivery.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel and advisers in accordance with budgets and engagement policies

Requirements


  • A degree from a common law jurisdiction

  • Completion of the Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course (or equivalent professional training)

  • Experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department as a paralegal or equivalent position

  • Strong IT skills and numerical literacy

  • Proficiency in carrying out legal research

  • Ability to travel when required, up to 5%

  • Experience of commercial law, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (useful)

  • Good understanding of the hotel sector and corporate structures (useful)
