Job description

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Paralegal/ Legal Officer for our client a local government organisation in Kensington.The successful candidate will deal with prosecutions under the Single Justice Procedure.This role is a 3 month contract with the possibility to extend. 1-2 days per week in the office, possibly with more office attendance initially whilst being trained.Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Liaising with the business support team to ensure actions are progressed in a timely fashion.
  • Instructing experts, counsel and other suppliers on behalf of the team, raising purchase orders and receipting goods to ensure timely payment of suppliers and services.
  • Carrying out office administration, including billing and writing letters.
  • Organising diaries, scheduling meetings and responding to telephone queries.
  • Writing first document drafts and proofreading documents.
  • Writing reports, conducting legal research.
  • Analysing and inputting data, writing articles for internal or external circulation.
  • Organising case files, attending court hearings, transcribing legal opinion and compiling court bundles.
  • Preparing electronic court bundles, uploading to the digital courtroom.
  • Clerking and delivering bundles and documents to courts, including the High Court.
  • Working with business support, training and onboarding new team members.
  • Supporting the team’s preparation for LEXCEL accreditation.
Personal Requirements:
  • L2 Diploma in Legal Studies / CILEx/ law degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar office environment.
  • Ability to work in a fully digital environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team.
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade to achieve efficient and timely delivery of service.
Working Hours:37hrs / 9:00am - 17:10pm / Monday to FridayPay:£26.14 per hrPlease note this role is within the scope of IR35.
