This role is to work as part of the Construction & Engineering team based out of our Newcastle office.
The non-contentious Construction & Engineering team has built up an exceptional reputation in the residential development sector and is on national panels with a number of top name house builders. The team also acts for local and national private developers, large national and international corporates, contractors, construction professionals, public sector organisations, and education sector institutions. The team is increasingly winning and servicing work in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
The team also has a proven record in Paralegal progression, providing you the opportunity to progress onto a training contract or achieve legal qualification via alternative methods if this is your goal.
The role offers a unique opportunity to handle your own caseload and gain experience managing client relationships early in your legal career. Progression within the role is encouraged and supported by experienced senior team members, with many paralegals successfully qualifying as solicitors and advancing within the team.
Key Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities Include But Are Not Restricted To- Responding to ad hoc requests for information from clients, document preparation, negotiation, and legal research.
- Managing your own caseload.
- Interacting with the firm’s clients, providing high-quality service at all times.
- Ensuring full compliance with DAC Beachcroft policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Developing strong financial and case/file management skills.
- Contributing to fee-earning and non-fee-earning activities, such as knowledge sharing, training, assisting, preparing updates for clients and the team, legal research, and input into pitch documents and tenders.
- Building awareness of the firm's other services and developing effective internal and external networks.
- Handling confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- Experience in construction, commercial/residential property, or contract law is advantageous but not essential.
- A strong academic record with a genuine interest in law.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to produce high-standard work.
- Confidence in building strong relationships with clients and third-party contacts at all levels.
- Flexible, organized, self-motivated team player capable of working collaboratively to achieve goals.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
