Job description

We are seeking curious and enthusiastic individuals to join our Legal Services Team as a Paralegal. If successful, you will be based in the Newcastle Office on a hybrid basis supporting the firm's lawyers worldwide and assisting in delivering a full business law service to leading corporations and financial institutions.

The Newcastle office is our hub for legal innovation and technology, giving you the chance to participate in cutting-edge initiatives at the forefront of the legal industry's transformation. We are also integrating generative AI tools into our workflows, and Paralegals are encouraged to develop awareness of these technologies, engaging with them responsibly with provided training and guidance.

Role & Key Responsibilities

Working under supervision of Supervising Paralegals and qualified lawyers, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with private M&A transactions, IPOs, and share issues, including contract reviews, due diligence, investor documentation verification, drafting and reviewing corporate documents, and managing virtual data rooms.
  • Supporting dispute resolution tasks such as note-taking, summarizing calls, managing exhibits, fact-checking, and building court bundles, especially in large-scale e-disclosure reviews.
  • Participating in banking transactions by drafting checklists, security documents, and coordinating lender approvals, acting as a point of contact among parties.
  • Engaging in other practice areas like real estate, data protection, employment, and IP.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or working towards one.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High computer literacy, including awareness of generative AI in legal services, with a willingness to learn and apply new tools responsibly.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to work autonomously or collaboratively.
  • A proactive approach to challenges and a desire to learn and take responsibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adaptability to different work environments and time zones.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
  • A graduate with a 2:1 degree or above.
  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Advanced IT skills, especially with structured data and exploring AI tools in legal or academic contexts.
