The role
As Paralegal, you will primarily support the Commercial Legal function with the opportunity to work with the Capital Markets and Company Secretary teams.
- Working with Stakeholders across Procurement, Sales, Brand and Marketing, Data, Technology and Product to provide pragmatic legal advice on a range of initiatives including, contracts, data protection, financial services regulation, intellectual property, development of new lending products, and financial services regulation
- Focusing on GDPR compliance, including reviewing and responding to personal data requests (right of access or erasure), completing privacy impact assessments; assisting with the upkeep of data protection policies and training materials, and template DPAs, and maintaining privacy notices
- Reviewing and amending a range of contracts, including our customer terms and conditions, NDAs, data processing agreements, partnership agreements, marketing contracts, and contracts for marketing, outsourcing, employment and consultancy
- Reviewing security documents relating to our finance products, such as personal guarantees, deeds of priority, and deeds of release
- Monitoring, allocating, and tracking requests for legal support from business teams via a service desk and shared inbox, ensuring no tasks are missed
- Broadening your legal and regulatory knowledge through research and horizon scanning
- Taking a hands-on role in the optimisation of the legal function through the adoption of technology, including generative AI, developing and owning processes to enhance the team’s efficiency, including maintaining contract templates, legal knowledge and keeping our commercial contracts playbook up to date
- Proactively problem solving, identifying and confidently mitigating any risks, issues or control weaknesses that arise in your day-to-day
What we’re looking for
- Strong academics, degree (or equivalent), preferable to have completed the GDL or SQE Part 1 (if not possessing a law degree) but not essential
- 2+ years experience working in a legal environment, either at a law firm or in-house. Exceptional candidates with less experience will also be considered
- Excellent communication skills that you want to develop further; you are open; reliable and embrace collaboration; you are curious and keen to learn
- You have a ‘can do’ attitude, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You prioritise commitments, manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
