Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our secured recoveries team.

We will be hosting an in-person recruitment event and assessment centre at our office in Manchester City Centre on Friday 16th May. You will get an inside look at the role, participate in activities that allow you to get a feel for what a typical day looks like as a Paralegal at Ascent, and gain insights about our company from our team.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted with an invite.

Main duties of the role:
  • Ensuring all relevant processes are followed, with matters followed up in a timely manner in line with client service levels and court processes.
  • Compiling witness statements or completing court documentation as required as part of the recovery process.
  • Ensuring all work undertaken is in line with internal and client service level agreements.
  • Liaising with external third-party companies, agents, or other representing parties as required.
  • Treating all customers fairly, professionally, and acting within legislation, compliance, and codes of practice.
  • Accepting and requesting guidance, tuition, and training on the methodology of work, utilization of computer systems, and other assistance at work.
  • In addition to the above, the Paralegal may be required to carry out any other reasonable requests as required by the Team Leader/Head of Department.
Our ideal candidates will have:
  • A law degree or equivalent
  • Experience working as a paralegal
  • Experience working for financial services’ businesses in a legal environment is desired but not essential
  • Sound knowledge of law and the legal system
  • Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable handling a large workload under time constraints
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with electronic document management and filing systems
