Job summary

Stone King LLP is seeking a Paralegal to join the Employment Team, offering a path to build broad experience in employment law within a busy, supportive firm. The role provides exposure to education sector matters and working across the firm on client-focused projects.

The successful candidate will have a law degree or conversion, strong communication, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset. Hybrid working and a commitment to wellbeing are part of the offer.

Qualifications

  • Degree in LLB or law conversion course (or in progress).
  • Interest in Employment law.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others in a friendly environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong written skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Aptitude for learning and initiative.
  • IT literacy and familiarity with legal admin processes.
  • Minimum 6 months' experience in legal administration.

Responsibilities

  • Deal with clients in person and on the telephone professionally.
  • Respond to queries, with supervision from team members.
  • Draft documents bundles and conduct research.
  • Assist in newsletter and article development and activities.
  • Record meeting times accurately.
  • Communicate promptly with colleagues and clients.
  • Support colleagues and clients to high standards per firm procedures.
  • Maintain continuing professional development and learning in law.

Our Employment Law Team is a core team in the Firm, working across our all of key client communities, with a focus on our renowned Education practice; there is a real opportunity to gain a real breadth of experience in this role.

Key Responsibilities

General duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Dealing with all clients referred to you in person and on the telephone in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Attending to the clients and answering any queries, with supervision from members of the team.
  • Drafting documents bundles and producing research.
  • Involvement in newsletter and article development and activities.
  • Meeting time recording requirements.
  • Communicating promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
  • Conducting work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm’s standards, procedures and Core Values.
  • Working in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment.
  • Maintaining your continuing professional development requirements and taking an active interest in furthering your knowledge within the field of law.
  • Ongoing learning is something that will continue in your career at Stone King; we aim to be leaders in our chosen fields, often providing workshops and seminars not only for our people but also for external clients on key areas of law.

Essential

  • A degree in LLB or completion of the law conversion course (or in the process of completing).
  • An interest in Employment law.
  • The ability to work in harmony with others, and to contribute to a pleasant working environment for all concerned, will be important.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • An aptitude for learning and be able to show initiative.
  • IT literate
  • You will have at least 6 months' experience within administration in a legal environment.

Desirable

  • Previous Paralegal or experience within a similar role is desirable.
